Chocolate Fountain Recipes and Ideas
Oh yes, they’re hot, they’re the hottest thing in party giving right now and you just bought one!
Now… how the heck do you use one? Add oil? To chocolate? How much?
It seems the companies expect you to already know what you are doing when you buy your first chocolate fountain. Well! We don’t! So here are a few tips to help you out.
First and most important - use a good quality chocolate. Don’t go cheap and skimp here. There IS a difference in quality and flavor and the variety is wide. There are tons of chocolate to choose from. I use Guittard Melt n Mold because of its unique ability to melt smooth and have a nice luster. The taste is far superior to any other chocolate for fountains (especially that awful stuff you find at the local craft store! Eeek!)
The best flavor is dark chocolate because of its beautiful color! You will like this dark chocolate, it’s not to harsh, just perfect!
Melt the chocolate (about 5 pounds depending on your machine) with about 1/2 cup oil (depending on how smooth you want the chocolate to flow) in a zip lock back in the microwave (yes! In the microwave, this chocolate does very well in the microwave!) in 30 second intervals to avoid scorching. When melted completely, with no lumps, work together with hands to mix the chocolate and oil. Cut a small hole in the bag and empty into your chocolate fountain.
What to dip? You’re no dummy! You know what you like! Bananas, apples, marshmallows, strawberries, pineapple, pretzels, cookies!! Anything!
For something different try popcorn, or freeze your fruit so the chocolate cools quickly on it!
